
After graduating from Texas A&I University, Alan was employed as a special agent with the US Treasury Department. He went through criminal investigator school in Washington, D.C. which included firearms and other training by the Secret Service. During his tenure as a special agent, he was temporarily assigned as a special deputy US marshal and traveled to various countries in Europe and the Middle East on protection details.
Later, he spent several years as a criminal investigator at the municipal and county levels before accepting an instructor’s position as a contract employee of the Department of Defense, assigned to the US Army in Berlin, Germany. While there, he traveled to several European countries.
After returning to the United States, he graduated from Baylor University law school and worked
for a number of years as a prosecutor then as a defense attorney for over twenty years in Fort Worth and Austin, Texas.
Following his retirement, he began authoring crime fiction novels under the pen name of Alan Brenham. He’s had five crime fiction novels, Price of Justice (2013), Cornered (2014), Rampage (2015), Game Piece (2018), and Hidden Intentions (2020), published with Black Opal Books. All five novels have garnered numerous awards and nominations. His next novel, No More Lies, is under contract to TouchPoint Press. He has recently finished his seventh novel, set in Paris, France, and is writing his next book, a sequel to the seventh book and is set in Italy. He and his wife, Lillian, a retired officer in the US Army, currently live in the Austin, Texas area.
