Amy G. Poindexter is an elementary education teacher who has worked with children of all ages. She began her career as a third grade teacher, made many memories in those first five years, and loved every minute of it. Amy has a Master’s Degree in Gifted and Talented Education, and has spent the last fifteen years of her career as a math interventionist, providing exciting learning activities for children in grades K-2. She helps her students grasp concepts and build their confidence as learners. She understands that children do not all learn in the same way or at the same pace, and she tailors her lessons to meet individual needs. Children in her class are active learners, using hands-on materials to solve problems and build skills.
As a teacher, Amy reaches out to her students’ families, sharing ideas with them to help their children increase success at school. Her desire to promote positive relationships between school and home is evident in her work as the former parent facilitator at Wynne Primary school. Amy has been an active member of Wynne Primary School Community Council and the school leadership team. She is a key leader in planning and hosting school events so that students and parents may enjoy positive educational experiences. Amy has extended her creative ideas for learning beyond her school and local community through the launch of Learning Linens, colorful sheet sets printed with preschool and early elementary learning activities.
Her website is www.learning-linens.com.
