Since retiring from 28 years of uniformed service as an officer in the U.S. Army
Medical Department and 13 years as a civilian in biomedical research/teaching at the end of 2014, Salter has been a full-time writer. His latest novel prior to this one in 2021 won the Gold Medal in Readers’ Favorite international writing contest, in the category of Christian fiction—fantasy/sci-fi.
