Leighton Richards grew up in a small town in southern Virginia, much like the fictitious one in Won’t You Please Come Get Your Baby. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Washington & Lee University and her law degree from Drake University Law School. After practicing law for several years in Virginia, Leighton stepped out of the courtroom to pursue her writing career.

She currently lives in Des Moines with her husband and three children. This is her debut novel.
